The Acting Provost of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies (AKCILS), Dr. Ali Tamasi Mu’az, has sought the support and intervention of the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Abdullahi Ibrahim Wayya, towards actualising the administration’s “AKCILS Upgrade Project.”
Dr. Mu’az made the appeal when he paid a working visit to the commissioner as part of his ongoing consultations with key stakeholders on the development and repositioning of the institution.
The Acting Provost briefed Wayya on the state of affairs at the college and outlined the objectives of the upgrade project, which his administration initiated shortly after assuming office.
He said the visit was aimed at seeking the commissioner’s support, guidance and assistance in mobilising relevant stakeholders towards addressing the challenges confronting AKCILS and advancing its development.
Dr. Mu’az stressed the importance of collective responsibility and strategic partnerships in transforming the institution, expressing confidence that the support of key stakeholders would contribute significantly to the success of the upgrade initiative.
Responding, Wayya expressed his readiness to support the project, saying he had always been committed to the development of AKCILS, even before his appointment as commissioner.
The commissioner attributed some of the challenges facing the institution to what he described as an attitude of indifference by some students and members of the public, urging greater commitment and collective responsibility towards the college’s development.
“From today, I will embark on this journey to contribute my quota. I will find out and contact you. I will do all I could to fast-track the process,” Wayya said.
He described the upgrade initiative as a worthy engagement and assured the Acting Provost that he would explore available avenues to support the college in achieving its development objectives.
Wayya also urged the Acting Provost to intensify his engagements with relevant stakeholders and sustain the momentum of the administration’s efforts to reposition the institution.
He commended the visibility AKCILS had continued to gain through its activities and stakeholder consultations, urging the management to remain focused, committed and steadfast in its efforts to take the college to greater heights.
Earlier, Dr. Mu’az expressed appreciation to the commissioner for the warm reception and assurances of support.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to pursuing the AKCILS Upgrade Project through sustained consultation, collaboration and strategic engagement with relevant stakeholders.
