Amidst improved security, cult members clash in Maiduguri

Commotion ensured on Monday as a crime group known as “Marlia boys” clashed in Maiduguri, resulting in the death of one person while others sustained various degrees of injuries, and several shops destroyed.

Majority of the cult members have been identified with the scavenging activities locally called ‘Baban Bola’.

In recent times, the Borno Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), paraded six suspects for vandalizing a communication mast within Chiki village of Chibok LGA.

Reacting to the ugly incident, the Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum declared a ban on the activities of ‘Baban Bola’ throughout the state.

Where he threatened that: “I will sign an Executive Order banning all forms of metal scavenging in Borno,” Zulum said.
