The Northern Reform Organization(NRO) has congratulated President Bola Tinubu on his one anniversary as the President and Commander-In-Chief, Federal Republic of Nigeria.
A statement signed by the group’s Director Research and Planning,Hamisu Isa Sharifai, and its Director of Publicity, Mahmoud Adnan Audi, also congratulated State Governors, Senators, members of the House of Representatives and members of State Houses of Assembly on their one-year anniversary in office.
Similarly, the NRO congratulates Nigerians on the occasion of the nation’s attainment of 25 years of return to civil rule.
It then urged Nigerian leaders to consider the period for powerful rumination on the nation’s match for peace, progress and development.
“It is time to make sober reflection on our rather slow match to national development.
“Our development journey has been hampered by a lot of obstacles both homemade and foreign-inspired.Our leaders need to redouble their efforts in tackling these obstacles so that we can join other nations in the pursuit of modern development,”the group said.
It also expressed sadness over the present condition of the North, saying,”it is sad to see that the region is littered with so many uncompleted projects, unfulfilled promises and dashed hopes.”
“Our representatives at the Federal Executive Council, the National Assembly and State Assemblies must wake up to their responsibilities to see that all projects sited in the North are carried out to their logical conclusions,”it said.
The NRO, for example, lamented the non-completion of the dredging of the River Niger and urged Northern leaders to ensure its completion.
Other uncompleted projects listed by the organization include the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano(AKK) Gas Pipeline, the Kano-Maiduguri road and the Kaduna-Kano-Maradi rail line, and called for their completion for the benefit of the region and the nation.
The NRO then called for an end to what it described as “the crippling” insecurity bedeviling the North such as insurgency, kidnapping and banditry.
