The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency bye-election, Engr. Dr. Usman Maijama’a Kallamu, has called on party leaders, stakeholders and members to unite and work towards securing victory for the party in the September 19, 2026 poll.
Kallamu made the call after emerging as the APC candidate at the party’s primary election held in Malam Sidi, Gombe State.
He secured 27 votes to emerge as the party’s flag bearer, defeating other aspirants who contested the ticket.
Speaking shortly after his emergence, Kallamu expressed appreciation to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, APC leaders, delegates and supporters for the confidence reposed in him and their support during the primary.
He urged the other aspirants to join hands with him and the party, saying their collective efforts would be crucial to ensuring victory in the bye-election.
“I appeal to all our brothers who contested the primary, party leaders, stakeholders and supporters to put the outcome behind us and work together for the success of our great party,” he said.
The APC candidate also appealed to residents of Gombe, Kwami and Funakaye local government areas to support his candidacy, promising to provide effective representation and attract meaningful development to the constituency if elected.
He said his emergence should be seen as the beginning of a collective journey towards strengthening the APC and advancing the interests of the people of the federal constituency.
The bye-election followed the death of the former member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo, in June 2026.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the election for Saturday, September 19, 2026.
The election will be conducted across 903 polling units and 31 registration areas in Gombe, Kwami and Funakaye local government areas that make up the federal constituency.
