The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has felicitated Muslims across Nigeria and around the world on the occasion of Eid-ul-Mawlid, urging Nigerians to draw lessons from the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad to promote peace, unity and national cohesion.
Yilwatda, in a message issued on Saturday, said the commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet provided an opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the timeless virtues of compassion, tolerance, justice and peaceful coexistence.
He said such values were particularly important at a challenging period in the country’s national journey, stressing that they could provide a pathway to healing, unity and renewed hope.
“As Muslims across Nigeria and around the world commemorate the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, I extend my warmest felicitations to the Muslim Ummah and all Nigerians,” the APC chairman said.
According to him, Eid-ul-Mawlid should inspire Nigerians to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and national unity despite their political, religious and ethnic differences.
Yilwatda urged Nigerians to regard the country’s diversity as a strength rather than a weakness, particularly as the nation approaches another electoral season.
He warned against the use of politics to promote division, intolerance and violence, saying political competition should not be allowed to undermine Nigeria’s unity.
“No political contest should destroy the bonds of brotherhood and national unity that bind us together,” he said.
The APC chairman also called on the Muslim Ummah to use the occasion to offer prayers for lasting peace, security and prosperity in Nigeria, as well as wisdom for the country’s leaders.
He acknowledged the challenges confronting the country but expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, describing the nation as one blessed with enormous talent, resilience and promise.
“Despite our challenges, Nigeria remains a nation of immense talent, resilience and promise,” he said.
Yilwatda prayed that Almighty Allah would accept the prayers of the faithful, bless families and communities, protect Nigeria and guide its leaders with wisdom and courage.
He wished Muslims and all Nigerians a peaceful, joyful and spiritually rewarding Eid-ul-Mawlid.
