In a demonstration of his commitment to inclusive leadership and social welfare, the APC flag bearer for the Jama’are and Itas/Gadau Federal Constituency in Bauchi State, Hon. Sulaiman Sa’ad Gadau, has facilitated distribution of tricycles and wheelchairs to persons with disabilities across Jama’are and Itas/Gadau Local Government Areas.
The initiative is aimed at improving the mobility, independence, and overall well-being of persons with disabilities, while reaffirming the importance of ensuring that every member of society has equal opportunities to live with dignity and participate fully in community life.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a timely intervention that will significantly ease their daily movement and enhance their ability to engage in education, economic activities, healthcare services, and other aspects of social life.
Addressing the beneficiaries and members of the community, Hon. Gadau reiterated his unwavering commitment to building an inclusive society where no individual is left behind.
He stated that persons with disabilities deserve equal respect, equal opportunities, and meaningful representation in all aspects of governance and national development.
He further pledged that, if elected to represent the people of Jama’are and Itas/Gadau Federal Constituency, his administration would prioritize policies and programmes that promote inclusion, accessibility, and the provision of assistive technologies.
According to him, access to mobility aids such as tricycles and wheelchairs is not merely a charitable gesture but an important step toward restoring dignity, promoting self-reliance, and enabling persons with disabilities to contribute meaningfully to society.
Hon. Gadau emphasized that persons with disabilities have the same fundamental rights as every other citizen, including the right to quality education, accessible and affordable healthcare, decent employment opportunities, economic empowerment, and active participation in political and decision-making processes.
He noted that sustainable development can only be achieved when every segment of society is given an equal opportunity to thrive, regardless of physical ability.
He also stressed the need for greater investment in disability-inclusive infrastructure, accessible public facilities, and social protection programmes that address the unique challenges faced by persons with disabilities.
He called on government institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, and community leaders to work collectively toward creating an environment where persons with disabilities can reach their full potential without facing discrimination or unnecessary barriers.
Hon. Gadau reaffirmed that inclusive governance remains one of the guiding principles of his vision for the constituency. He pledged to champion legislation, attract developmental initiatives, and support programmes that strengthen the rights, welfare, and socio-economic empowerment of persons with disabilities, women, youth, and other vulnerable groups.
The distribution of tricycles and wheelchairs reflects his broader commitment to promoting equity, compassion, and sustainable community development. It also underscores his belief that empowering persons with disabilities is not only a moral responsibility but a necessary investment in building stronger, more resilient, and more inclusive communities.
