Bago hosts special Ramadan Iftar for critical stakeholders in Niger
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has advocated unity and togetherness among critical stakeholders for the overall growth and development of Niger State.
Bago stated this during a special Ramadan Iftar organised for critical stakeholders at the Hauwa Wali Multipurpose Hall, Government House, Minna.
He noted that the Iftar was organized to use the Ramadan season as a platform to interact with one another on ways to move Niger State and Nigeria forward, saying the spirit of love and forgiveness associated with the Ramadan season should be exemplified by all.
He emphasized the need for all critical stakeholders to be role models to the younger generation in order to follow the path of greatness and contribute their own quota to the development of the State.
Bago also admitted that it’s been a long time since stakeholders met to discuss issues relating to the State and advocated that the meeting should henceforth be held on a quarterly basis to improve relationships among stakeholders irrespective of party affiliation and plan for a better Niger.
He used the forum to call on the residents of the state to key into his agricultural revolution, which he described as a reality that will help the State diversify in terms of revenue generation, especially as the tax reform bill will soon be in place.
Bago also revealed that the state APC has adopted the consensus method as the mode for primary elections in preparation for the upcoming Local Government Council elections and that names of candidates will be submitted by the Party to the State Independent Electoral Commission. He urged stakeholders to go back to their respective local governments to do what was necessary.
In his remarks, the Minister of State for Agriculture, Sen. Abdullahi Sabi, commended Gov. Umaru Bago for giving Niger State a sense of hope and direction, especially in the agricultural sector, where the State has been at the forefront in realizing the food security agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Sen. Muhd Sani Musa, who spoke on behalf of other Federal legislators from Niger State, was full of admiration for the farmer-Governor’s developmental strides and his exemplary leadership style of carrying everyone along.
