The Barau Jibrin Development Vanguard (BJDV), a leading socio-political organization committed to good governance, youth empowerment, infrastructure development, and the progress of Kano North Senatorial District, strongly rejects the recent misleading and opportunistic statement by Engr. Abdullahi Tijjani Mohammed Gwarzo (ATM Gwarzo), the former Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development.
In his statement, the former minister attempted to politicize the Kano–Gwarzo–Dayi road project by unfairly challenging the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Deputy Senate President, Distinguished Senator Barau I. Jibrin, CFR. This amounts to a desperate attempt to score cheap political points ahead of the 2027 elections, ignoring the tangible progress recorded on this critical infrastructure under the Renewed Hope Administration.
Contrary to ATM Gwarzo’s claims of prolonged negligence, the facts speak for themselves:
– The Kano–Gwarzo–Dayi road project was flagged off in 2021. It faced challenges common to many legacy projects inherited by the current administration.
– Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership and the relentless advocacy of Senator Barau I. Jibrin, the Federal Government has released fresh funding — including ₦19 billion earlier this year and a substantial ₦37 billion allocation in the 2026 budget — to revive and accelerate the project.
– Contractors have returned to site, and construction is actively resuming, transforming the single-lane road into a modern dual carriageway that will boost economic activities, agriculture, and connectivity between Kano and Katsina States.
Senator Barau I. Jibrin has consistently demonstrated exceptional representation for Kano North. As Deputy Senate President, he has played a pivotal role in attracting federal projects, ensuring budgetary provisions, and providing oversight to deliver dividends of democracy to the people. His efforts in infrastructure, education, health, and youth empowerment are visible and acknowledged across the zone.
ATM Gwarzo’s attempt to drag the names of President Tinubu and Senator Barau into his political ambition reflects poorly on his understanding of governance. Development is a continuous process, not a tool for electioneering. The people of Kano North know who has been working tirelessly for them at the national level.
The Barau Jibrin Development Vanguard reaffirms its unwavering support for Distinguished Senator Barau I. Jibrin and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We urge the people of Kano North to disregard this distraction and focus on leaders with proven track records of delivery.
We call on all well-meaning stakeholders to support the ongoing efforts to complete the Kano–Gwarzo–Dayi road and other critical projects in the zone. A New Kano North is indeed possible — through sustained partnership, effective representation, and visionary leadership.
