BREAKING: Atiku Confirms Opposition Coalition to Challenge Tinubu in 2027
Former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has confirmed the formation of a coalition aimed at unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Centre in Abuja, Atiku affirmed the coalition’s emergence when asked whether it would serve as the main opposition force against the APC.
“Yes,” he stated, signaling a significant political realignment ahead of the next election cycle. While specific details of the coalition remain undisclosed, the move suggests intensified efforts by opposition leaders to consolidate their influence and challenge the APC’s dominance.
The press conference was convened amid growing concerns over President Bola Tinubu’s recent declaration of a State of Emergency in Rivers State. Atiku and other political stakeholders at the event strongly condemned the decision, calling it unconstitutional and a threat to Nigeria’s democracy.
