Former Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has referred to Muhammad Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano and Chairman of the State Council of Emirs.
Ganduje made the reference while speaking at the Kano State Government House during the swearing-in ceremony of the new Deputy Governor, Murtala Sule Garo.
The event briefly turned emotional as attendees erupted in applause when Ganduje greeted Emir Sanusi and acknowledged him as the head of the Kano Emirate Council.
This marks the first public instance in which Ganduje has recognized Sanusi in such a capacity, despite previously dethroning him in 2020 during his tenure as governor.
However, Sanusi was later reinstated following the election of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf after the 2027 polls.
