BREAKING: Kano Police Reaffirm Ban on Durbar Ahead of 2025 Eid-El-Kabir Celebrations

As Muslims across Kano State prepare to mark the 2025 Eid-El-Kabir celebrations, the Kano State Police Command, in collaboration with sister security agencies, has extended warm greetings to the Muslim faithful and law-abiding residents while reaffirming a total ban on all forms of Durbar activities.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the Command emphasized that comprehensive security measures have been put in place to ensure peaceful and hitch-free festivities throughout the state. Worshippers are urged to be law-abiding and conduct themselves peacefully, as security agencies stand ready to protect lives and property.

The Police reminded the public of a previously issued ban on Durbar activities during the Eid-El-Fitr celebrations, following credible intelligence on threats posed by miscreants intending to exploit such events to disrupt public order. The Command noted that these security concerns remain, hence the decision to maintain the ban during the upcoming Eid-El-Kabir.

“This decision was reached after consultations with security stakeholders, based on intelligence reports indicating that certain groups planned to use Durbar festivities to instigate violence and unrest,” the statement said.

The following security guidelines have been outlined for strict compliance:

No horse or animal riding of any kind (Kilisa);

No car racing, reckless or dangerous driving;

No unlawful possession or display of firearms or weapons;

No carrying of items that could cause fear or suspicion.

Parents and guardians are advised to caution their children and wards against involvement in any subversive acts, as law enforcement will fully enforce these measures.

The Command also called on residents to avoid any actions likely to breach the peace or disrupt public safety. While urging everyone to pray for the peace of the State and the nation, the police extended their condolences to the families of the athletes from Kano who tragically lost their lives while returning from the National Sports Festival.

“Happy Sallah in advance,” the statement concluded.
