BUK Information and Media Studies Students Organize Iftar to Foster Unity

Students from the Department of Information and Media Studies at Bayero University, Kano (BUK), organized an Iftar gathering to promote unity and strengthen bonds among Level 2 and Level 3 students.
The event, aimed at fostering harmony among students, was attended by faculty members, including the Head of Department (HOD), Prof. Nura Ibrahim, representatives from the Student Union Government (SUG), and students from the Mass Communication department.
In his remarks, Prof. Nura Ibrahim praised the growing sense of unity within the department and assured continued support to enhance the event in subsequent years.
He also commended the department’s progress in academic and professional development.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Saminu Umar, the Level 3 Students’ Coordinator, urged students to remain focused during their SIWES (Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme) placements and to serve as exemplary ambassadors of the department.
Dr. Muhammad Danja, one of the organizers, emphasized that the Iftar was designed to strengthen relationships and mutual understanding among students from different backgrounds.
The gathering saw participation from students of diverse religious and ethnic affiliations, reflecting the department’s inclusive and collaborative spirit.
The Department of Information and Media Studies at BUK is dedicated to training students in modern journalism, research, and social media studies, equipping them with the skills needed for the evolving media landscape.
