The Civil Society Coalition on Peace, Security, and Conflict Resolution (CCSPCR) has extended warm New Year 2026 greetings to the government and people of Jigawa State, urging continued unity, vigilance, and commitment to peacebuilding across communities.
In a New Year message signed by the Coalition’s Communication and Strategy Officer, Maryam Ibrahim, and conveyed by its Chairman, Comrade Musbahu Basirka, the group commended the people of Jigawa for their resilience, peaceful disposition, and adherence to the long-standing “Great Mallamadori” legacy of hospitality, tolerance, and communal harmony — values that, according to the statement, make Jigawa a beacon of peace within the North-West region.
Renewed Commitment to a Safer 2026
The Coalition reaffirmed its determination to deepen peace and security efforts in 2026 through strategic programs focused on preventing and countering violent extremism (PCVE), strengthening social cohesion, and promoting community-based dispute resolution mechanisms.
According to the statement, the CCSPCR will intensify community-led preventive approaches to security by addressing the root causes of radicalisation, promoting inclusive dialogue, and reinforcing local resilience mechanisms to shield communities from extremist influences and emerging threats.
It further noted that peacebuilding remains a deliberate effort, emphasizing the Coalition’s plan to sustain dialogue across social, ethnic, and religious divides while encouraging the use of traditional, religious, and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms to handle disputes related to land, resources, and communal relations in a peaceful and inclusive manner.
Appreciation to Partners
The Coalition expressed deep appreciation to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) for its strategic guidance and technical support in aligning local initiatives with national security priorities.
It also lauded the Jigawa State Government for what it described as proactive leadership and consistent support in providing an enabling environment for peace and security interventions across all 27 Local Government Areas of the state.
Call for Collective Responsibility
The CCSPCR urged all residents to remain vigilant, embrace dialogue, and uphold the principles of peaceful coexistence, stressing that security is a collective responsibility that requires citizens to act as their brother’s keeper and promptly report suspicious activities through proper channels.
Comrade Basirka reaffirmed the Coalition’s commitment to working closely with government institutions, security agencies, traditional and religious leaders, women, youth, and civil society groups to consolidate peace and stability across Jigawa State.
The statement concluded with prayers for a prosperous 2026 filled with peace, improved security, social harmony, and sustainable progress for the people of Jigawa State.
