The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has commended the Kano State Government for establishing the Department of People with Disabilities under the Ministry of Women, Children, and Disables.

The organization described the development as a major step toward promoting inclusivity and accessibility for People with Disabilities (PWDs) in the state.

In a statement signed by CITAD’s Executive Director, Engr. Y.Z. The appointment of Dr. Binta Bala, PhD, as the Director of the department was also praised by CITAD, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of her dedication to advocating for the rights of PWDs. “As a beneficiary of CITAD’s inclusive initiatives, Dr. Binta’s expertise and passion for disability rights make her an ideal candidate to lead this department,” the statement added.

CITAD expressed its sincere appreciation to the Kano State Government for taking this significant step and reaffirmed its readiness to support the government in promoting disability inclusion. “This development is a testament to the government’s commitment to addressing the needs of PWDs and ensuring their equal participation in society,” CITAD noted.
