By Mustapha Salisu

The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), in collaboration with the British Council and King’s Trust International (KTI), has launched the second phase of its “Youth Sustainable Enterprise Challenge Programme” in Kano.

This phase targets 70 selected young candidates, aiming to equip them with entrepreneurial skills to build successful businesses and support economic growth in Nigeria.

In his welcome address, Engr. Y.Z. Ya’u, Executive Director of CITAD represented by Senior Programs Officer Isah Garba emphasized the program’s objective of promoting an entrepreneurial mindset among Nigeria’s youth.

“With 61% of Nigeria’s population being young people, neglecting this demographic poses a huge setback for national development,” Garba stated.

He highlighted the program’s role in addressing the exclusion of youth from political, economic, and social spaces.

Garba also urged participants to fully engage with the training, which covers life skills, soft skills, and business development, stressing the importance of sharing this knowledge within their communities.

PRIME TIME NEWS gathers that, This program targets individuals aged 18–35, focusing on women and persons with disabilities, to provide essential technical, digital, and entrepreneurial skills for self-employment and job creation.

Building on the success of its first phase, which trained 60 youths, CITAD aims to train 70 more in Kano, helping participants gain skills in digital entrepreneurship, ICT, and marketing to promote sustainable enterprises. The initiative strives to empower Nigeria’s youth to drive economic growth and build resilient futures for themselves and their communities.
