The CLEEN Foundation, with support from the MacArthur Foundation, organized a two-day Citizens’ Engagement workshop focused on Policing Reform and Accountability of Justice Sector Actors in Jigawa State and Nigeria.
Gad Peter, Executive Director of the CLEEN Foundation, emphasized that the organization is committed to fostering dialogue among stakeholders to highlight the importance of citizen engagement in policing reforms. He noted that such engagement is crucial for enhancing police-community relations and improving the overall criminal justice system.
Peter highlighted that effective administration of justice is fundamental to upholding the rule of law, and collective efforts are essential to ensure its strength and effectiveness.
“This workshop offers a valuable opportunity for critical discussions, sharing insights, and evaluating our legal framework concerning Citizens’ Engagement on Policing Reform and Accountability,” he stated.
He stressed that achieving the goals of the workshop requires a robust legal framework and effective administration. Peter encouraged participants to actively engage in discussions, share their experiences, and collaborate on practical solutions to enhance legal, judicial, and policing processes.
