Commandant Gyama Gyawiya Bows Out in Style: NSCDC Gombe Celebrates a Distinguished Leader

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gombe State Command, organized a grand ceremony to honor its outgoing Commandant, Gyama Gyawiya, as he retired from active service on April 24, 2025, upon reaching the statutory retirement age of 60.
The elaborate pulling-out event, held at the State Command Headquarters in Gombe, was attended by prominent dignitaries, including the Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, represented by Lt. Col. Abdullahi Bello (Rtd), Honourable Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Deputy Commandant of the Corps (DCC) Abubakar Muri and Dr. Barnabas Malle, Gombe State Commissioner for Agriculture and Animal Husbandry.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SC Buhari Sa’ad, the event also welcomed heads of security agencies, other eminent personalities, and a large turnout of NSCDC officers and personnel to celebrate the retiring Commandant.
In his farewell speech, Commandant Gyawiya expressed deep gratitude to the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for his visionary leadership and the opportunity to serve.
He also extended his appreciation to the Executive Governor and the people of Gombe State for their unwavering support and trust throughout his tenure.
Gyawiya commended the officers and men of the NSCDC Gombe Command for their commitment to duty and urged them to continue upholding professionalism and service excellence.
A valedictory session held a day prior highlighted his significant contributions and achievements during his career.
The session was marked by heartfelt tributes, accolades, and gift presentations, reflecting the respect and admiration he garnered over the years.
As part of the farewell celebrations, Commandant Gyawiya was bestowed with the honorary title of Hasken Kamo by the District Head of Kamo in Kaltungo Local Government Area.
Representatives of the district head and selected elders presented him with the appointment letter, acknowledging his contributions to peace and development in the area.
