Coup: U.S begins military deployment in Niger

The United States has initiated a substantial military operation in the Republic of Niger.

The U.S. Department of Defense Headquarters is currently relocating troops and equipment within Niger.

Additionally, a small number of non-essential personnel will be withdrawn as a precautionary measure.

This marks the first major military operation following a coup in July.

U.S. officials stated that this consolidation is part of a careful military strategy to protect American assets while continuing to combat the threat of violent extremism in the region, according to Reuters.

This action does not alter our overall military presence in Niger, and we remain open to considering various options as we plan our next steps.

The movement of U.S. assets has been coordinated and approved by the relevant authorities, as stated in the report.
