Danbare Community Faces Severe Water Shortage

…As Residents Struggle For Clean and Safe Water

Access to clean and safe water is a basic necessity, yet residents of danbare in kano state are facing on ongoing crisis due to a severe shortage of water.

To understand the daily struggles caused by the water shortage, Barakat Ozohu Abdulrahman, A SIWES TRAINING AT PRIME TIME NEWS spoke with a resident of danbare, who shared her experience

Sidikat Oyize Yusuf, a resident of Danbare said, “ her daily experience to get clean water was horrible, since 2021 she entered Danbare, she only have access to clean water once and to have access to it is during raining season.

She Furthermore said, she buy water from water vendors everyday, spend 300 to get water daily and in a week she spend 2100 while in a month is 8400 but sometimes she spend more than that when she needs to wash.

 

She suggest that the landlords in Danbare should try to build a boreholes in the compound which the occupant of the apartment have access to, and community leaders should collaborate with the water board agency to connect a pipe from the water board and run it across the community

 

Alamin Abubakar, a water vendor in Danbare said, “ he got water from danbare center mosque, the challenging he face is when there is no light, they have to que before there can get water and because of that it has affected his business and pricing

 

Suleiman Ibrahim Suleiman, a staff of water board agency said “ he is aware of the scarcity of water in Danbare, the cause of water scarcity is the main pipe supplying water to all areas that the machine that pump water from the main dam can not supply an adequate amount of water to danbare.

 

He added that the the kano state government has recently purchased a new pumping machine to replace the old one and has set a long term and also signed an agreement with World Bank to provide a standard water supply across kano state.

 

Water is a necessity in human body, the water shortage in danbare is a serious challenging that has affect the livelihood and the overall well-being of the community. The government should make it a tope priority to restore dignity and stability to the live of the people in danbare
