Economic Growth:Gov.Yusuf Tasks Banks,Others On Low Interest Loans

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has urged Signature Bank and other financial institutions operating in the state to continue to be agents of growth, especially to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) through granting loans at low interest rates.

Yusuf made call while declaring open the new branch of Signature Bank in Kano.

“We view banks as critical partners in our journey towards sustainable growth and prosperity in our state and nation. And we pledge our full support and collaboration to institutions like the Signature bank,” he said.

The Governor stated that the occasion was more than just the unveiling of the physical structure of the bank, but a profound endorsement of the economy of the state and that of the country in general.

“It is also a testament to the resolute commitment of Signature Bank to financial inclusion and the economic development of Nigeria,” he said.

He stressed his administration’s commitment to economic empowerment, job creation and fostering of a thriving business environment in the state.

Yusuf urged Signature Bank to serve as vital financial arteries that would provide essential financial services, access credits for entrepreneurs and support the thriving commercial sector of the state.

He assured potential investors, entrepreneurs and existing businesses of his administration’s commitment to creating an enabling environment characterized by investor friendly policies, improved security and enhanced ease of doing business.

In his remarks,the Managing Director of the bank, Nixon Iwedi, said the branch would provide innovative and world-class financial services to the people of the state.

“We will continue to double down on our resolve to serve traders, farmers, small businesses, and professionals, offering secure, reliable, and convenient financial solutions designed for modern living,” Iwedi said.

The Chairman of the bank, Tijjani M. Borodo, said the bank’s presence would accelerate the state’s drive towards financial inclusion and expand its access to innovative financial solutions, especially for the SMEs.

Borodo commended Governor Yusuf for fostering an investment-friendly environment, pledging that the bank would strengthen Kano’s profile as a major hub for commerce and enterprise in Nigeria.

“We commend the Executive Governor of the state for his tireless work in ensuring a suitable ecosystem for corporate entities like Signature Bank to operate,” he added.
