The Federal Fire Service (FFS), under the leadership of the Controller General, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, has commenced a five-day Executive Leadership Training Programme for senior and mid-level officers of the Service. The programme began on Wednesday at Belmont Hotel, Wuye, Abuja.
This was disclosed in a statement on X by the National PRO and Head of Corporate Services, DCF P.O. Abraham.
According to Abraham, the programme, themed “Enhancing Strategic Leadership, Operational Excellence, and Public Safety in the Federal Fire Service,” is a deliberate effort by the Controller General aimed at building a sustainable leadership pipeline and strengthening the future of the Service.
He explained that the training, which builds on earlier capacity development initiatives, targets top management cadres, recognizing their pivotal role as the next generation of command and policy drivers within the Service.
“Participants drawn from senior and mid-level cadres across various commands are being equipped with practical leadership tools and strategic skills necessary for higher responsibilities. Key focus areas include strategic leadership and organisational transformation, ethics, attitudinal change and professional conduct, governance, policy, and future readiness, amongst many other well-thought-out topics,” he stated.
Abraham added that the programme aligns with the performance benchmarks outlined in the Performance Bond signed between heads of agencies under the Ministry of Interior and the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
“One of the core deliverables of the bond emphasises capacity building, institutional strengthening, improved service delivery, and leadership development across all agencies in the Ministry,” he noted.
He concluded that by extending structured leadership training to middle cadre officers, the Controller General is reinforcing the Federal Fire Service’s commitment to meeting key performance indicators while ensuring that emerging leaders are adequately prepared to uphold the Service’s mandate of protecting lives, property, and critical national assets.
