Fire Safety:FFS Partners Kano Stakeholders

As part of its sustained strategic engagements to strengthen fire safety architecture in Kano State, the State Controller, Federal Fire Service, Kano Command, Engr. Kazeem Sholadoye Oyefola,has paid a courtesy visit to the Director General, Special Services Directorate, Kano Government House, Major General Mohammed Sani (Rtd.).

the visit was aimed at fostering institutional collaboration and aligning critical stakeholders on key safety priorities across the state.
According to the statement,key discussions during the engagement centred on preparations towards the 2026 International Firefighters’ Day (IFFD), with emphasis on inclusivity, inter-agency participation, and the need for befitting recognition of the sacrifices and contributions of firefighters.
It said the meeting also addressed the imperative of enhancing fire safety standards across public and private facilities in Kano State.
“Deliberations focused on proactive risk mitigation measures, regulatory enforcement, and the adoption of best practices to reduce fire incidents in critical infrastructure.
“In addition, both parties examined concerns relating to recurring market fire outbreaks, underscoring the need for strengthened safety protocols, intensified stakeholder sensitization, and improved emergency response coordination to safeguard lives and property within commercial hubs,” it further said.
Responding,Major General Mohammed Sani (Rtd.) commended the proactive approach of the Kano Command and expressed support for initiatives geared towards improving fire safety and promoting inter-agency synergy.
“This engagement further reinforces the Kano Command’s commitment to building strategic partnerships and advancing a safer and more resilient Kano State,” the statement added.
