Former Badaru Aide, Bello Zaki, Defects to ADC

By Muhammad Kabir

Bello Muhammad Zaki, a former spokesperson to ex-Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State, has resigned from the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) and defected to the African Democratic Party (ADC).

Zaki, who is from Unguwar Gabas Ward in Kazaure Local Government Area, announced his decision in a resignation letter addressed to the NNPP ward chairman. The letter is dated January 1, 2026.

He said the decision followed extensive consultations with his family, relatives, supporters, and well-wishers, describing the move as a carefully thought-out step taken at the beginning of the new year.

“After wide consultations with my family, relatives, supporters, and well-wishers, I hereby resign from the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) to join like-minded individuals in the African Democratic Party (ADC) as a major New Year resolution,” the letter stated.

Zaki’s defection is considered a significant political development in Kazaure, given his former role as spokesperson to the ex-governor and his grassroots influence in the area.

As of the time of filing this report, officials of both the NNPP and ADC in Jigawa State have yet to officially comment on the development.
