Foundation Bemoans Suspension Of Passport Printing @Ten Centres

The Grassroot Care and Aid Foundation has expressesed deep concern over the reported decision by the Nigeria Immigration Service to suspend passport printing services at ten passport centres across the country, including six centres in Northern Nigeria, among them two in Kano State.
The remark is contained in a statement signed by the foundation’s President,Amb. Auwalu Muhammad Danlarabawa.
Danlarabawa said if implemented as announced, the policy would require passport applications from the affected centres to be sent to Abuja for printing before being returned to applicants.
“This raises serious concerns about increased delays, higher costs, administrative burdens, and reduced access to essential government services for millions of Nigerians.
“We believe that any policy affecting such an important national service should promote fairness, efficiency, and equal access for all citizens, regardless of their region.
“We therefore call on the Federal Government to urgently review this policy in the interest of national unity and equitable service delivery.
“We also call on members of the National Assembly, especially Senators and Members of the House of Representatives, to exercise their constitutional oversight responsibilities and engage the relevant authorities to ensure that no part of the country is unfairly disadvantaged.
“We urge all State Governors, particularly those representing the affected states, to advocate for the restoration and strengthening of passport printing services within their respective states.
“Questions have been raised by many citizens regarding the criteria used in selecting the affected centres. We respectfully urge the relevant authorities to provide clear explanations and ensure that decisions of this nature are guided by transparency, equity, and the national interest.
“Nigeria’s diversity is one of its greatest strengths. Public institutions must continue to uphold the principles of justice, equal treatment, and inclusiveness in the delivery of government services.
“We respectfully appeal to the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Federal Government to reconsider this decision and engage stakeholders to find a solution that serves the interests of all Nigerians,” Danlarabawa added.
