Kano State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, on Monday appealed for sustained prayers and support from religious leaders for the success of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration, stressing that peace and unity remain essential for the development of Kano State.
The Deputy Governor made the appeal while receiving separate delegations from the Tijjaniya Shura Council and the Qadiriyya movement at his office during congratulatory visits following his emergence as Deputy Governor of the state.
Garo acknowledged the crucial role of religious bodies in promoting peace, unity and harmony in Kano State and the country at large, commending their contributions to social cohesion and peaceful coexistence.
While receiving the Tijjaniya Shura Council, Kano State chapter, led by Sheikh Sani Shehi Maihula, the Deputy Governor praised the group for its continued efforts in promoting peace and harmony across the state.
He described the visit as a source of encouragement and motivation to discharge the responsibilities of his office with dedication and integrity.
“I assure you that I will carry out my duties with utmost dedication and integrity, and all your advice will be judiciously utilized for the progress and development of Kano State,” Garo said.
Speaking earlier, Sheikh Sani Shehi Maihula congratulated the Deputy Governor on his assumption of office and prayed for Allah’s guidance and protection upon him.
He noted that the Tijjaniya Shura Council has representatives in all the 44 local government areas of the state and remains committed to offering constructive advice aimed at advancing Kano’s development.
In a related development, the Deputy Governor also received a delegation from the Qadiriyya movement led by Sheikh Karibullah Nasir Kabara and represented by Alkali Ahmad Zauro Kabara.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Alkali Ahmad Zauro Kabara said the Deputy Governor needs the sincere prayers of the people of Kano State to enable him successfully deliver on his mandate, assuring him of the movement’s continued support and counsel in the interest of the state.
Responding, Garo expressed appreciation for the visit and prayers, assuring the delegation that their advice would be carefully considered and utilized for the overall progress and development of Kano State.
