Kano State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, on Wednesday joined top political and traditional leaders in Ilorin as he represented Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the turbaning of Kwara Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the Sardauna of Ilorin.
The ceremony, held at the palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, marked one of the major engagements attended by Garo during his visit to Kwara State.
AbdulRazaq, who is also Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and President of the Forum of Regions of Africa, received the traditional title from the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs.
Garo conveyed the presence and goodwill of Governor Yusuf at the ceremony, which attracted political office holders, traditional rulers and other prominent guests from across the country.
Earlier, the Kano Deputy Governor had represented the governor at the commissioning of the Kwara Garment Factory by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
According to reports, the newly commissioned facility is expected to commence operations following the ceremony, which was attended by government officials, traditional rulers and other dignitaries.
Garo’s engagements in Ilorin brought together official representation from Kano at both the industrial and traditional events, reflecting the state government’s participation in the activities.
The visit concluded with a reception and luncheon held at the Atlantic Events Palace, Ilorin, where guests gathered to mark the occasion.
