Kano State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, has represented Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the graduation ceremony of students of Madarasatul Ta’awini Ummul Litahafizul Quran in Kano.
Garo conveyed the governor’s goodwill message to the graduating students and their parents, expressing delight over the students’ completion and memorisation of the Holy Qur’an.
He spoke on Sunday at the graduation ceremony held at the school premises, where he urged the graduands to apply the teachings of the Qur’an in their daily lives by being trustworthy, honest, respectful and compassionate.
The Deputy Governor congratulated the parents for supporting their children throughout their Qur’anic education and commended the teachers for imparting knowledge to the students.
He described the gathering as evidence that good legacies continue to benefit society even after their founders have passed away.
Garo commended Hon. Abba Bichi for establishing the school and constructing classrooms before becoming a legislator, describing the initiative as an indication of his commitment to educational development.
He also appreciated the family of the late Alhaji Sani Buji for constructing a block of classrooms and supporting the development of the school.
According to him, building schools is a collective responsibility, urging philanthropists, politicians, businessmen and other stakeholders to emulate such contributions.
He said education produces responsible individuals who can contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities, Kano State and the country.
Garo further urged the students to hold firmly to the teachings of the Holy Qur’an, respect their parents and teachers, remain honest and trustworthy, while also pursuing Western education.
Responding to demands presented by the school management, the Deputy Governor assured that the Kano State Government would consider the completion of the classroom block, recruitment of more teachers and proposed upgrade of the school from Islamiyya to junior secondary level.
“For the school upgrade, the matter would be subjected to review and advice by the Kano State Ministry of Education” He said.
The Deputy Governor donated N2 million to the school management and N20,000 each to the graduating students.
Speaking earlier, the Executive Chairman of Bichi Local Government, Hon. Hamza Sule Maifata, commended the family of the late Alhaji Sani Buji for building and sustaining the school.
Maifata also appreciated the parents and teachers for supporting the students until they completed all 60 Hizbs of the Holy Qur’an at a young age.
In his remarks, the school’s Principal, Malam Sani Nuhu, welcomed the dignitaries and parents and narrated the history of the institution, highlighting its development through various stages.
He presented three major demands to the state government: completion of a classroom block, upgrading the school to junior secondary level and recruitment of additional teachers.
Highlights of the event included the commissioning of the Late Alhaji Sani Buji Classroom Block, built and donated by his family to Madarasatul Ta’awini Ummul Litahafizul Quran, and the presentation of graduation slates to the students by the Deputy Governor.
