Gov. Buni Receives ACReSAL Policy Document, Reaffirms Commitment to Tackling Environmental Challenges

Yobe State Governor, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to addressing the environmental challenges facing the state.

In a statement issued by the Director-General, Press and Media Affairs, Mamman Muhammad, the governor made this known while receiving the state policy document on climate change at the Government House, Damaturu.

Governor Buni noted that his administration places high priority on flood and erosion control, as well as the fight against desert encroachment and other related environmental issues, to mitigate the impacts of climate change in the state.

Presenting the document, the Commissioner for Environment and Chairman of the ACReSAL Steering Committee, Alhaji Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa, said the policy document would serve as a strategic guide for addressing the effects of climate change in Yobe State.

Also speaking, the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman of the Policy Document Committee, Baba Malam Wali—represented by the Director-General of YOGIS, Dr. Hassan Gana—commended Governor Buni for initiating and supporting policies, programmes, and projects aimed at mitigating environmental challenges across the state.
