Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council (FEC) over the approval of major development projects worth over ₦1.178 trillion in the state.
In a statement issued by the governor on his Facebook page, Senator Uba Sani said the projects would significantly transform the economic and social landscapes of Kaduna State.
Among the key projects approved is the construction of a modern intra-city rail system in Kaduna.
The light rail project will run from Rigachikun to Sabon Tasha, covering 30 kilometres, while another line will extend from Millennium City to Rigasa, spanning 20 kilometres.
Governor Uba Sani said the 50-kilometre rail project, valued at ₦1 trillion, would be integrated with the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system currently under construction to improve transportation within the state.
“Kaduna is the second state in Nigeria that will begin using this light rail system. This reflects the confidence the Federal Government has in our transport development plan,” he said.
The governor also commended the approval of ₦178 billion for the reconstruction of the 122-kilometre Mando–Kaduna–Birnin Gwari road.
He recalled that President Tinubu visited Birnin Gwari before the 2023 general election, where he witnessed the insecurity and poor road conditions affecting residents and pledged support.
“Today, President Tinubu has fulfilled that promise. This road will not only improve transportation, but will also enhance security, boost agriculture and restore hope to the people of the area after years of fear and isolation,” the governor said.
Uba Sani assured the President of the Kaduna State Government’s commitment to ensuring the successful execution of the projects.
