Kano State Governor, Alh. Abba Kabir Yusuf, has been commended for introducing a subsidy initiative aimed at reducing the cost of tracker installation for commercial tricycle (Adaidaita Sahu) operators across the state.
This was disclosed by Alhaji Abdulmalik Salisu, Chief Executive Officer of A.S and A.J Company, the accredited firm authorized by the Kano State Government to install trackers in all registered tricycles operating within the state.
According to the CEO, Governor Yusuf has significantly reduced the financial burden on tricycle operators by subsidizing tracker installation costs, making the devices available at a highly affordable rate. He explained that the governor initially provided a subsidy of ₦1 million for the first phase of installations, reducing the overall cost for drivers by at least 10 percent.

Alhaji Abdulmalik further revealed that Governor Yusuf’s intervention also covered customs duties on the imported tracking devices, enabling the company to offer the trackers at the same price obtainable in the Chinese market — ₦28,500 per unit — compared to the previous local market price of over ₦70,000.
He noted that the subsidy program is expected to continue beyond the initial phase, with the governor committed to supporting additional tricycle operators once the first batch is completed.
The company’s CEO also praised the Kano State Ministry of Transportation, under the leadership of Commissioner Barrister Haruna Isa Dederi, for its support and cooperation in ensuring the successful implementation of the initiative.
Alhaji Abdulmalik described Governor Yusuf as a compassionate and progressive leader whose policies continue to positively impact the livelihoods of ordinary citizens, particularly commercial tricycle operators in Kano State.
