Governor Mutfwang charges his Political Appointees on swift change

From Tongnaan Bawa, Jos

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has urged his political appointees to adopt a new approach to leadership, emphasizing the need for urgency, accountability, and integrity.

Speaking at a retreat theme “That Plateau May Shine,” Mutfwang shared his personal transformation from a preacher to a politician, highlighting the importance of leaders shifting their perspectives to drive positive change.

Mutfwang stressed that the time for working in isolation or prioritizing personal gain is over, emphasizing the need for collective effort and unity in achieving progress.

He encouraged appointees to view their roles as opportunities to serve and make a difference, regardless of their tenure.

The governor also emphasized the importance of integrity and personal accountability, urging officials to be guided by a sense of duty to God and humanity rather than mere political loyalty.

He expressed concern over the state’s declining educational standards, agricultural productivity, and healthcare system, vowing to implement policies that will drive sustainable progress.

Commissioner of Information Joyce Ramnap disclosed that the retreat aims to enhance governance and democracy, bringing together experts in governance, leadership, and development.

Our correspondent reports that the retreat’s objective is to provide a platform for critical thinking, reflection, and self-evaluation, ensuring that leaders take full responsibility for their roles and make the most of their time in office.

A communique is expected at the end of the six days retreat which started on Sunday to last on Saturday 15th February, 2025 for Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, head of ministries, Departments and agencies and other appointees in the state.
