Hundreds of residents from Gwarzo Local Government Area on Saturday gathered at the Eid Prayer Ground to offer special prayers for former Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, following his emergence as the governorship candidate of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The prayer session drew participants from all 10 wards of the local government area, with residents describing Gwarzo as a worthy representative of the community and expressing confidence in his leadership.
Leading the congregation, Islamic scholar Ustaz Surajo Lungu spent about 40 minutes reciting verses from the Holy Quran and offering prayers for Gwarzo’s success and a peaceful electoral process.
Speaking during the gathering, Lungu thanked Allah for elevating one of the community’s sons to the position and prayed for wisdom, strength, and guidance for Gwarzo as he seeks to serve the people and contest the 2027 election.
Participants also offered prayers for Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, in recognition of what they described as his support and mentorship of Gwarzo.
The event also featured prayers for peace, unity, and prosperity in Kano State, with speakers urging residents to continue promoting harmony and peaceful coexistence.
Community leaders, including Garba Sarki and Abdulkadir Ahmed Getso, described Gwarzo’s emergence as a significant milestone for the area and expressed confidence in his ability to provide effective leadership and quality public service.
They said the large turnout at the prayer session reflected the strong grassroots support Gwarzo enjoys across the local government area and reaffirmed the community’s backing for his governorship aspiration.
The gathering concluded with prayers for lasting peace in Kano State and Nigeria, alongside calls for issue-based campaigns and peaceful participation in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 elections.
The development was contained in a statement issued by Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, spokesperson to Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, on Saturday.
