ICRC Launches Emergency Response Workshop for Journalists in Yobe

From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has launched a workshop on emergency response for journalists in Yobe State to show them how to provide emergency response to the community when the need arises.

The workshop, which kicked off on Tuesday in Potiskum, will last for three days.

During the launch of the workshop, the Communications Officer of the ICRC Yobe, Mr Usman Kundili, said that they organized the workshop with the aim of training journalists on emergency response.

The ICRC will also show journalists how to protect themselves while working in difficult locations.

He added that this international organization’s original purpose was to provide assistance to communities that have fallen into a difficult situation, especially in the event of a disaster, whether it is war or something else.

“Therefore, this Red Cross organization was not, as some say, founded with a religious purpose, this is not true at all” Usman said.
