From Mika’il Tsoho, Dutse

The Jigawa chapter of the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) project organized a one-day sensitization workshop for members of the Jigawa Social Protection Platform (JiSOP), focusing on the project’s intervention strategies, objectives, and the role of partners in its implementation.

The sensitization, held on Thursday at Mtown Hotel in Dutse, brought together over sixty participants, including media representatives and civil society organizations from across the state.

Speaking at the event, Alhaji Yahaya Uba Kafin-gana, the ACReSAL State Project Coordinator, explained that the project, funded by the World Bank, is designed to address critical issues of land degradation and climate change across 19 northern Nigerian states, including Jigawa.

Representing the Project Coordinator, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Zaharadden Babandi Sale, emphasized the crucial role media and civil society organizations play as key stakeholders in ensuring the success of the ACReSAL project.

He stressed that the project’s success largely depends on community participation, which can only be achieved through awareness creation and public mobilization.

Zainab Baba, the project’s Communication Officer and facilitator of the sensitization, commended the participants for their active engagement and urged them to continue supporting the initiative.

In his remarks, Comrade Shu’aibu Musa Kafin-gana, Chairman of the Jigawa Social Protection Platform, expressed gratitude to ACReSAL for involving JiSOP in the project and pledged to work diligently to ensure its success.
