Jigawa first lady calls for regular cancer screening

The wife of Jigawa state governor Hajiya Hadiza Umar Namadi has on Jigawa state people to cultivate habits of regular cancer screening for the betterment of their health.

Hajiya Hadiza made called to news men when she joined the first lady of the federal republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, during the commemoration of the Medicaid Cancer Foundation (MCF)’s annual breast Cancer awareness campaign held in Abuja.

The Jigawa first lady who emphasized on the importance of early detection promised to do all her best for awareness campaign on prevention measures against cancer diseases.

“The present administration in Jigawa state under the leadership of Malam Umar Namadi is committed towards improving the health sector by providing all the needful” Namadi said.

She then commended Dr Zainab Bagudu as founder of Medicaid Cancer Foundation (MCF), and urged other to emulate her effort.”,I commended her tireless efforts on awareness campaign against cancer diseases”.

Remi Tinubu who was represented by the wife of speaker house of representatives Hajiya Fatima Abass said, this year awareness campaign was tagged as ‘WalkawayCancer@10’.

“It is crucial that we prioritise awareness and early detection and treatment. We must support research and initiatives that provide care and support those affected,“ she added.

While making her remarks, Dr Zainab Bagudu, a founder of Medicaid Cancer Foundation (MCF), and president-elect of the Union for International Cancer Control, stressed the significance of policy change and grassroots engagement in fighting cancer.

She said, “We have worked hard to promote awareness and encourage early detection. Both men and women must understand the risks and ensure regular screening.“
