Jigawa Senator donates N10m furnitures allowances to 274 students

As part of effort to support his constituents, the senator representing Jigawa Northwest senatorial zone, Babangida Hussain has dedicated his 10 million naira furniture allowance to scholarships for students in tertiary institutions in his zone.

The senator announced the donation on Monday at Wali Education Foundation Center (WEFC) located in Ringim local government area of the state.

The benefitting 274 students were selected from 137 wards of the 12 council  areas of his senatorial zone making them to be about two candidates per ward.

The foundation was established by the senator to support students, especially young people, women, and orphans acquire education and entrepreneurial skills for life.

While making his speech during the handing over of the 10 million naira cheques to the foundation, Senator Babangida Hussain said the support goes to science and technical students to create skills among youths in the zone.

He said that, the scholarship covers not only science and technical skills but other studies are very important and would be included in the future.

Walin Kazaure said, his foundation would continue to support agriculture, health, and other entrepreneurial skills to revamp the socio-economic standards of the people.

He called on the beneficiaries to dedicate themselves to their studies so that they will become the real leaders of tomorrow.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Executive Secretary of the foundation, Salisu Umar, stated that the students were selected through a committee which screened students across all the communities in the senatorial district.

He said, two students were selected from each of the 127 wards of the 12 LGAs of the senatorial district to benefit from the gesture.

“And this is just the beginning, others, including primary pupils, shall also benefit from a similar gesture,” Umar assured.

The Executive Secretary, who commended the lawmaker for his foresight in supporting students in the constituency, urged the beneficiaries to study hard so as to complement the investment made on them by the politician.
