Jigawa Stakeholders Vow to Ensure Functional ACJMC

The Stakeholders of Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) in Jigawa state has promised to make the Administration of Criminal Justice Monitoring Committee (ACJMC) functional in the state.

The promise was made during a town hall meeting for effective implementation, sustainablity of ACJL regime in Nigeria, organized by CLEEN Foundation and funded by Macarthur foundation held at Haitel hotel Dutse.

The town hall meeting which was attended by representatives from Police, Correctional Service, ministry of justice, NBA, Justice sector reform, Nigeria Customs Service, Human Right, Legal Aid, among many other stakeholders.

The Stakeholders also promised more commitments to revive the committee and ensure smooth running of Administration of Criminal Justice Law in Jigawa state “We promised to do all our best to make Administration of Criminal Justice Monitoring Committee (ACJMC) work in Jigawa state”, the Stakeholders said.

While making his welcome remarks, the executive director CLEEN Foundation Mr. Peter Maduoma who was represented by Ademola said, the town hall meeting focus on Institutional Strengthening and sustainablity engagement on the administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) and administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL).

“Over to the past two years the CLEEN Foundation, In collaboration with critical stakeholders across eight states, has been deeply engaged in promoting the effective implementation of the ACJA/ACJL and yielded success in advocacy, capacity building, policy reforms, and multi-stakeholder engagement”, he said.

He then urged the participants to exchange insights and contribute to shaping actionable recommendation that will strengthen justice sector oversight and enhance the sustainablity of the ACJA/ACJL regime.
