JUST IN: Police Disperse Protesters with Teargas at Isaac Boro Park in Port Harcourt

Officers of the Rivers State Police Command on Monday morning dispersed protesters with teargas at Isaac Boro Park in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

The demonstrators, members of the ‘Take It Back Movement’, had gathered at the park around 9 a.m. to begin their protest when they were met by a heavy police presence.

Despite warnings from the police not to proceed with the protest, the protesters insisted on their right to assemble. “Nobody can tell us where not to gather, we are Rivers people,” some of the young demonstrators told the officers.

The situation escalated as police chased the protesters from the venue, using force to disperse the crowd. Some of the protesters, including journalists covering the event, were reportedly beaten during the crackdown.
