…Commends Commissioner Goniri’s Sincere Leadership

The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria, KACRAN, has commended (Dr) Mai Mala Buni, Governor of Yobe State, for his consistent and transformative investment in agriculture, describing the newly approved N28.531 billion 2026 Agricultural Empowerment Programme as a landmark intervention for food security and economic growth.
In a statement signed by the National President, Hon. Khalil Mohd Bello, KACRAN recalled that since assuming office on 29th May 2019, Governor Buni has prioritized agriculture as the backbone of Yobe’s economy.
“Upon inauguration, the Governor, recognizing that Yobe is an agrarian state producing far more than local consumption, immediately convened an Agricultural Summit and inaugurated a high-powered expert committee led by Professor Abba Gambo.
The Committee’s report shaped policies that have positioned Yobe among Nigeria’s top food-producing states,” the statement noted.
According to KACRAN, the Governor’s vision has translated into massive budgetary allocations to the Yobe State Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, which have been used transparently to procure tractors, fertilizers, solar-powered pumps, and other inputs distributed to farmers at subsidized or no cost.
KACRAN also applauded the appointment of Hon. Ali Mustapha Goniri as Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources, describing it as a masterstroke of leadership.
“The appointment of Hon. Goniri reflects Governor Buni’s understanding that policies must be matched with the right people for implementation. Hon. Goniri has demonstrated sincerity, accessibility, and total commitment to ensuring that government programs reach farmers and herders at the grassroots,” Hon. Bello stated.
KACRAN noted that Yobe, where over 70% of the population depends on agriculture, has remained a major supplier of food to other Nigerian states and the Niger Republic.
The association particularly lauded the Governor’s decision to reduce tractor hiring fees from N100,000 to N50,000 per day, making mechanization affordable for smallholder farmers.
“KACRAN, as one of the direct beneficiaries of these policies, urges all Yobe farmers to reciprocate this gesture by working hard to increase production and selling food at affordable rates. This is how Governor Buni’s vision of food security and economic prosperity will touch every household,” the statement added.
The association called on the Federal Government, other State Governments, and Local Government Councils to emulate Yobe’s model of heavy investment in agriculture, subsidized inputs, and affordable mechanization to drive national food security and GDP growth.
“Governor Buni’s leadership is proof that with sincerity of purpose and foresight, government can deliver social services to the doorsteps of the people. We pray for continued success for his administration,” Hon. Bello.
