Kano Business Magnate, Aminu Dantata Dies At 94

Kano-born business magnate, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, is dead.
He died at the age of 94, after an illness, according to family sources, adding that the elder statesman died in the early hours of Saturday.
He may be buried later today (Saturday), according to Islamic rites.
Aminu Alhassan Dantata,who was born on May 19, 1931,was versed in investment, particularly in the finance, real estate and petroleum sectors.
A renowned philanthropist, Dantata spent fortunes on education, emancipation, skills acquisition and economic empowerment of the youth.
His disposition to ensuring peace and harmony among businessmen and politicians in Kano and Nigeria remained unparalleled.
The late Dantata also contributed his quota to public service as he served in the Kano State Government as a Commissioner during the then military regime of Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Audu Bako.
He was also a member of the Constitution Drafting Committee that prepared Nigeria’s 1979 Constitution.
Dantata was also known to have contributed immensely to the growth of Islam.
