Kano Dep. Governor Receives Report on Proposed Gaya Polytechnic, Hails Committee’s Efforts

The Kano State Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Higher Education, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has lauded the 16-member technical committee tasked with the proposed establishment of Gaya Polytechnic for submitting a comprehensive report in accordance with the terms of reference.

Speaking during the official presentation of the report on Thursday at his office, Comr. Gwarzo commended the committee’s timely and diligent work.

He assured that the report would be forwarded to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for evaluation and further government action to ensure the smooth take-off of the Polytechnic.

He reiterated the Governor’s commitment to expanding access to quality education, emphasizing that the administration’s developmental strides in the education sector are already being felt across the state while hinting that the unveiling of a new higher institution is close.

Speaking earlier, Chairman of the Technical Committee, Dr. Hadi Bala Yahaya, expressed gratitude to the state government for entrusting the team with the responsibility.

He praised the professionalism, patriotism, and dedication of his team members throughout the assignment.

Dr. Hadi outlined key components of the report, which include an academic brief, a draft establishment bill, a physical master plan, and infrastructure development proposals covering the Polytechnic’s second and third phases.

He also disclosed that the committee recommended a provisional name, “The Polytechnic, Gaya,” pending final approval by the implementation committee and the state government.

The report further outlines detailed recommendations on infrastructure, academic programmes, governance structure, staffing, and financial frameworks required for the successful establishment of the institution.

In a related development, the Deputy Governor also received the management of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Bichi, led by Provost Bashir Sabo Abubakar, who paid him a courtesy visit.

The delegation extended an invitation to Comr. Gwarzo to serve as a special guest at their upcoming conference themed “AI in Education: Focus on Business and Technology Education.”

Comr. Gwarzo accepted the invitation and expressed the state’s willingness to support the institution in other areas of mutual interest.
