Kano Governor Distributes Sport Kits to 600 Football Clubs
…Present Appointment Letters to Pillars Board
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has destributed sports kits to 600 football clubs residing in the state 44 local government areas, promising to rehabilitate all stadium in their domains.
He also presented letters of appointments to Kano Pillars Board members, assuring them of his total support.
The governor stated this at the event where hundreds of youth converged to witness the distribution and presentation of the letters which was held at Coronation Hall, Kano Government House.
A statement issued by Governor’s spokesman Malam Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa on Friday said Governor Yusuf stressed that football is a very lucrative venture worldwide which youth deserve to engage in it.
The governor explained that some indigenes of the state are presently playing fans across cities of the world, adding that most of them excelled in the profession.
He said some of them through playing abroad are supporting their families financially as well as contributing to the economic growth of the state and Nigeria at large.
Governor Yusuf further explained that his administration would continue to empower youths to be self-reliance, whether one is a footballer or not, the gesture is for the young generation.
He assured that Kano Sports Institute under rehabilitation would be equipped with all necessary facilities thereafter admission would be opened for them whereby accommodation and feeding would be available freely.
On Pillars Club, the governor said during the era of former Governor Engr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the fans were in good mood and trophies were won.
However, Governor Yusuf lamented that the eight years of immediate past government of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje the club which was on top of the chart went down drastically.
He vowed to revive the club so as to perform better, disclosing that the Kano Football Producing Company would also be resuscitated to continue producing and providing jobs to the teeming youth in the state.
Earlier, the state Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Alhaji Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso had described Governor Yusuf as the most Youth -Friendly Governor in Nigeria as a result of his comments to the development of youth and sports.
