Once more Barau Fc has been left scrambling for a venue after Kano State Sports Commission is trying to deny them access to the Sani Abacha Stadium for their slot in the Nigerian Premier League matches.
The Chairman of the newly promoted Kano Team, Barau Fc, Alhaji Ibrahim Shitu Canji accused Kano State Sports Commission of denying the team access to use SAS for the next coming football season.
Alhaji Ibrahim said after reaching an initial agreement to pay the sum of N5.7m to the government to use the pitch, the amount was later pushed to N7 million.
It was like a drama, after a few days a new agreement cropped up and the amount was escalated to N10m before the Maliya Boys are allowed access to the pitch.
He said in less than two hours of making the payment of the agreed ten million naira, the authorities in charge of the stadium still came up with an exorbitant charge of N50, 000,000 as the new condition before Barau Fc is allowed to use the stadium.
” With this development, Barau Fc has no fate in Kano as deliberate attempt is being made to deny it access to the pitch (Sani Abacha Stadium) with less than a week to start the new season”, he alleged.
He also said he believes His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf will intervene on the matter in the interest of justice and fairness.
Barau Fc has in less than 3 years earned itself the promotion from NLO to Nigerian National League and now to the Nigerian Premier Football League.
The team is also the second to play NPFL from Kano.
The Maliya Boys will host the nine times Nigerian Premier League Champions, Enyimba International of Aba on Friday.
