Kano Govt Launches Ramadan Feeding, Targets 91,000 Faithful Daily

The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam,has launched the state 2025 Ramadan Feeding Programme, targeting 91,000 Muslims daily.

A statement issued by the State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Wayya, said the deputy governor officially flagged off the programme at Dandali Centre in Fagge Local Government Area.

“On 2nd March 2025, equivalent to the 2nd of Ramadan 1446, His Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, officially flagged off the 2025 Ramadan Feeding Programme in the state capital. The ceremony took place at Dandali Centre, Fagge Local Government Area.

“Since the assumption of office by the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)-led government in Kano State, under the able leadership of His Excellency, the Executive Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, the state government has institutionalized this initiative to support vulnerable residents by providing them with daily iftar meals during the holy month of Ramadan,” Wayya said.

He said the annual programme is a humanitarian effort aimed at easing the difficulties faced by fasting Muslims.

“Recognizing the needs of the state’s large population of Ramadan observers, the Kano State Government remains committed to ensuring that relief reaches those in need,” he said.

Consequently, the commissioner said,the State Government had approved the 2025 Ramadan Feeding Programme, with 91 designated feeding centers across the state,adding that the initiative would cater for 91,000 people daily for 27 days.

To ensure effective implementation of the programme he said, catering service providers had been engaged to prepare and deliver 91,000 plates of meals per day across all designated centers.

He said the deputy governor who is also the Chairman of the 2025 Ramadan Feeding Programme, expressed satisfaction with the smooth take-off of the initiative.

He urged the catering companies involved to ensure timely and efficient delivery of meals to all feeding centres to achieve the programme’s objective.
