Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to increasing women’s participation in governance and empowering them across various sectors.
The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo stated this on Wednesday while receiving executives and members of the Women in Politics Association, Kano State Chapter, on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
He described women as critical to societal development, noting that empowering a woman creates positive impacts across families and communities.
According to him, the present administration has prioritised the welfare and inclusion of women through empowerment programmes and appointments into key positions, including commissioners, Accountant-General and Head of Service.
The Deputy Governor assured the association that the government would continue to consider more women for opportunities in governance, stressing that their involvement in politics contributes significantly to education, healthcare, socio-economic development and other aspects of human development.
He thanked the association for the visit and assured its members that the government would remain open to engagement and collaboration.
Earlier, the Chairperson of the association, Ambassador Rashida Adamu Mai Sa’a, said members were in the Government House to introduce the organisation and reaffirm their support for Governor Yusuf and his deputy.
She said the association would intensify its mobilisation activities across the state ahead of the forthcoming elections and appealed to the state government to provide office accommodation to enable members to effectively carry out their activities.
