Kano Govt Reiterates Determination To Boost Security In All Parts Of The State

Kano State Government says it is determined to boost security in all parts of the state.
The state Commissioner for Internal Security and special services, Retired AVM Ibrahim Umaru,gave the assurance at the distribution of the First batch of Uniforms and other Kits to the Kano State Command of Vigilance Groups drawn from the 44 local government areas of the state.
A statement by Muhammad Dahir Idris,
Director Public Relations and Enlightenment,Ministry of Internal Security and Special Services,quoted the Commissioner as saying that the State Government would do everything possible to ensure adequate security of lives and properties of the citizens.
He said Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is appreciative of the complementary role being played by the Vigilance Groups to other security agencies in securing lives and property in the state.
He, therefore, assured of his ministry’s continued support to the Vigilance Groups to enable them perform more effectively.
AVM Ibrahim Umaru said that new administrative and patrol vehicles would also be procured for the Vigilance Groups to enable them discharge their duties effectively.
He emphasised the need for synergy and unity between all security agencies in the state, especially among the vigilance groups from across the 44 local government areas for effective operation.
In his remarks, the Kano State Commander of the Vigilance Groups, Amb. Shehu Muhammad Rabiu, called on wealthy individuals in the state to complement the state government’s efforts in the provision of patrol vehicles, pointing out that the issue of security is a collective responsibility.
Amb.Rabiu thanked Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for addressing issues affecting Vigilance Groups in the state and promised to justify the confidence reposed in them by the government.
He disclosed that the government had already built a befitting state Office Complex for the Vigilance Groups, while other welfare issues are being addressed by the Governor.
He pledged their determination to reciprocate the good gesture by re-dedicating themselves to service.
