Kano Govt To Construct Senate Building For Dangote Varsity

Kano State Government has concluded arrangements for the construction of a befitting Senate building at Aliko Dangote University of Science and
Technology, Wudil.

A statement made available to newsmen by the Deputy Registrar, Media and Publications, Malam Abdullahi Datti Abdullahi,said the Special Adviser to Kano State Governor on Higher Education, Prof. Auwalu Halliru Arzai dropped the hint when he paid a familiarization visit to the institution at the weekend.

Other projects slated for execution and captured in the 2024 budget the Special Adviser said, included landscaping and beautification works on the Campus.

Prof. Arzai also disclosed that the State Government had prioritized education and as such, it allocated 29.9 per cent of this year’s budget to the education sector, set up a committee on foreign scholarship and embarked on schools renovation and training programmes,among others.

“The state government had also provided funds for 2023 NUC accreditation exercise, and approved series of outstanding allowances for the workers of the University,” the special adviser stressed.

While inspecting the uncompleted renovation work at the burnt female hostel, Prof. Arzai promised to intimate the Visitor on the completion of hostel renovation with a view to ameliorating the accomodation needs of the University.

Responding, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, appreciated the series of interventions slated for the university within the short period of assumption of office.

Yakasai particularly highlighted the release of funds for successful conduct of NUC 2023 accreditation exercise for 24 programmes, approvals for payment of hazard allowance, earned allowance, promotion arrears, upgrade of overhead and huge budgetary allocation to the University.

He, however, mentioned some problems that need urgent intervention to include accommodation especially when the students population is fast growing, the staff manpower and deficit in the registration fees.

He commended the state government for its progressive education policies, and urged it to consider staff of ADUSTECH for the foreign training in the next batch.

The vice Chancellor also commended Prof. Arzai for facilitating series of approvals for the University since his appointment, and urged him to sustain the tempo.

Some highlights of the Special Adviser’s visit include Campus tour to University Library, Students Hostel, Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Agriculture, Central Research Laboratory, ongoing road network project courtesy of Federal Road Mentenance Agency and commissioning of Female Hostel Gate B undertaken by the management.
