Kano State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, has called on members of the 2027 campaign council of the member representing Bichi Federal Constituency, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi, to prioritise unity, grassroots mobilisation and peaceful political engagement ahead of the general elections.
Garo made the call on Monday while speaking on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the inauguration of the campaign council held at Prestige Hall, Kabiru Bichi Foundation office, Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State.
He described the inauguration as a call to responsibility, unity and effective political mobilisation, urging members to strengthen the party’s political structure and engage voters through peaceful democratic means.
The Deputy Governor congratulated Abubakar Kabir Bichi on his appointment as chairman of the council, urging him to provide inclusive leadership and ensure that all communities and stakeholders within the constituency were carried along.
Garo also called on party leaders, elected representatives, youth groups, women leaders and grassroots supporters to work together, stressing that political engagement should address the people’s concerns and reflect their aspirations for good governance and development.
He urged the council to conduct its activities in accordance with the law, reject violence and intimidation, and promote tolerance and mutual respect as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
Also speaking, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi thanked his constituents for their sustained support over the past seven years, attributing it to their recognition of development projects executed across the constituency.
He cited road networks, a power substation, an ultramodern market in Bichi and a 22,000-capacity stadium under construction, alongside efforts to address water supply challenges and support students’ education and other achievements of his representation.
Bichi urged his constituents to vote for APC candidates at all levels in the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that continued support would enable them to benefit from further dividends of democracy.
He also charged members of the newly inaugurated campaign council to work collectively towards securing his re-election and the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the constituency.
In his acceptance speech, the Director-General of the Bichi 2027 Campaign Council, Hon. Sani Mukaddas, expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him to lead the campaign in the constituency.
He assured the council that its members would work towards securing all votes across the 271 polling units in Bichi Federal Constituency for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
The newly inaugurated campaign council is chaired by Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi, with Hon. Lawan Shehu and Hon. Hamza Sule Maifata serving as Vice Chairman I and Vice Chairman II, respectively, while Hon. Sule Abdu Ara is Vice Chairman III.
Other principal officers include Professor Yusuf Mohammed Sabo as Secretary, Hon. Mohammed Ado Bichi as Deputy Secretary, and Hon. Aminu Mohammed as Assistant Secretary (Administration). The council also comprises a Board of Advisers and members of various directorates.
Goodwill messages were delivered by several dignitaries, including the Director-General of the Kano State Presidential/Gubernatorial Campaign Management Team for the 2027 general elections, His Excellency Abdullahi T. Gwarzo; Special Assistant to the member representing Bichi, Hon. Muntari Bagudu Bichi; former Kano State Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi; and former minister, Hon. Ahmad Garba.
Others included the Executive Chairman of Bichi Local Government Area, Hon. Hamza Sule Maifata, and a member of the Kano State House of Assembly representing Bichi, Hon. Lawan Shehu, among other dignitaries.
