The Chairman of Kiru Local Government Area in Kano state, Hon. Abdullahi Sa’idu Kafin Maiyaki, has denied reports circulating on social media alleging that he organized a distribution of “Detergent empowerment” support to residents.
In a statement issued by his office, the chairman described the claims as false and malicious, insisting that they were being spread by political opponents aiming to discredit his administration rather than highlight what he described as genuine empowerment initiatives.
According to the statement, the local government recently implemented educational sponsorship and livelihood support programmes, including scholarships for students and the distribution of vocational and agricultural tools.
The education support scheme reportedly covered 101 students across different institutions. These include:
40 students at Jamilu Imperial College of Science and Technology, Tudun Wada Dankade
61 students at Dambo College of Science and Technology, Kazaure, Jigawa State
In addition, the chairman’s office stated that 60 motorcycles were distributed to young people to promote self-reliance and economic empowerment.
It also noted that sewing machines and irrigation water pumps were given to beneficiaries as part of efforts to support small-scale businesses and agricultural productivity.
The statement further alleged that the negative reports were being fueled by a government official seeking political ambition, accusing him of attempting to tarnish the chairman’s image due to dissatisfaction with the chairman’s political engagement with women in Yalwa ward.
The office urged the public to disregard any unofficial information, images, or reports originating from Kiru Local Government Area unless they are formally released through authorized channels.
