The Kano State Security Neighborhood Watch Corps has reiterated its commitment to professionalism and diligence in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities, particularly in the fight against criminal activities and social vices across the State.
Yusuf Abubakar Ibrahim Anipr, Director Public Enlightenment of the Corps disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen today.
According to Ibrahim, the Commander General of the Corps, Lt. Col. Aminu Yusuf Abdulmalik (Rtd), made this known while parading suspects apprehended for alleged involvement in illicit drug-related activities in Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State.
The Commander General disclosed that the operation followed a formal complaint lodged by concerned residents of the area over the increasing activities of some unscrupulous individuals involved in illicit drug dealings.
Acting on credible intelligence and reports from members of the community, the Corps carried out a coordinated operation under the command of the Director Operations, Habibu Balarabe Madigawa and Sector Commander 1, AWO Kabiru Isyaku, which led to the successful arrest of the suspects.
He emphasized that the Kano State Neighborhood Watch Security Corps remains resolute in its mandate to safeguard communities and support efforts aimed at curbing all forms of criminality and social misconduct in the State.
He stressed that the Corps will continue to work with communities and relevant security agencies to ensure that criminal elements have no safe haven in Kano State.
He maintained that professionalism, discipline and commitment will remain the guiding principles in all operations.
The suspects identified as Ahmad Sani, Halifa Umar, Sadiq Umar, and Sulaiman Abubakar reportedly confessed to their involvement in the illegal activities and pleaded for leniency, promising to desist from all unlawful acts.
The Agency further stated that the suspects will be handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation and necessary legal action.
The Kano State Neighborhood Watch Security Corps therefore calls on members of the public to continue providing timely and useful information that will aid in combating crime and maintaining peace, law and order across the State.
